I’m not the same person I was six weeks ago.

It’s amazing that in five sessions, I’m stronger, my anger is so much more in control, I’m able to control my feelings, I think before I speak, I’ve worked on my relationship with my mom who’s passed away, but it’s been a lifelong battle, and you’ve helped me so much with my current relationship with my husband and step kids.

I’ve enjoyed our weekly meetings, thank you so very much.

Through the years, 2008-2019, Darlene has helped me with so many aspects of my life, including decisions with my career in education, a business I owned for a short time, childhood issues, body issues, exercise, and relationships. I will forever be grateful to her for changing my life in so many ways.

I met Darlene in 2008 during a show at the South Towne Expo Center (I think it was a Women's shopping show). We both had a booth- she had one for her coaching business and I had one for my beaded watches. I had just started the jewelry business (so it was my first show!) and was sharing the booth with a friend, who was promoting her wellness clinic. She knew Darlene already and she introduced me to her. When I was introduced to Darlene, I remember her asking me to sell her a watch. I picked one up that I thought she would like and said that this watch would be great for her. She asked why and I couldn't really sell her the watch. I wasn't confident in the watches myself so how could I make her confident in them so that she would want to buy one?

During that time I was also working part-time as a Kindergarten teacher, had 3-year-old twins, and two other young boys ages 5 and 11. I was overweight (165 lbs) and miserable because I wanted to eat right, exercise, and have more energy. Yet, I couldn't succeed at any diet, get myself out of bed in the morning to exercise, so therefore I had no energy! I also had very low self-esteem. As a child, my father physically abused me, yet talked to my siblings about how amazing I was because I was smart, a college graduate, kept my room clean, and was skinny (only before I had kids 🙂 )- he continues to say these things to my siblings and it has torn our relationship apart (mine and my siblings). I worked with Darlene to forgive my dad after the many years of abuse, and when I was 40 years old I finally heard from him that he loved me (and I was willing to say it in return because I meant it).

At the show when I first met Darlene, and after she asked me to sell her a watch, she coached me a little on how to sell a watch and be more confident in what I was doing. I made each one myself and enjoyed the creativity that came with it. I needed to express that to my customers because I really felt it, I just didn't know how to convey that. I saw her for more coaching sessions for the business, and I went from making about $200 a month to making a few thousand dollars a month- in just a couple of short months. The business grew so fast I had to hire people to run the booths, hire a personal assistant to run the business with me, create the website, ship products, and promote my company. I enlisted my mom to help me make the beaded watches, along with other jewelry pieces, because I just couldn't keep up between that, my part-time teaching job and being a mother of 4.

After many coaching sessions for my business and me personally, I discovered that the jewelry business isn't what I really wanted- I had started it because I wanted more for myself. I was just doing the business for myself to use up some time. I wanted to go back to teaching full time, which I did, and jumpstart a career to someday become a school principal! I sold the company finally after having it for only two years and moved on to my next adventure. I continued to teach full time, finally went to school to become a school administrator, like many of my own principals suggested, and then became a school principal myself in 2015, which I never thought I was even capable of, especially with my shy, quiet personality. These attributes have served me well as a principal because my calm demeanor and ability to communicate effectively really helps me each day as an elementary principal. I owe my career as a principal to her! My confidence and surety in myself are so strong! I even use what I know to help my teachers, parents, and students when they are struggling with things.

After I sold my business in 2010, I continued to receive coaching from Darlene for me personally. I wanted to start exercising and eating right. I tried every diet known to man. I even tried to motivate myself to eat better and exercise by telling myself that I was so fat!  It didn't work, obviously. What was missing was knowing and understanding my purpose and higher self, realizing my higher power to change my belief system, create my own circumstances, and getting my life back so I can have complete confidence in myself in all areas of my life. I attended all of her group sessions twice and have become a lifetime member because I have been coached by her so much. I have referred many friends to her, for which they are grateful as well.

All of these coaching sessions and group sessions have helped me heal from my childhood abuse and realize my full potential. I haven't forgotten what has happened to me, but I have forgiven my dad and realized that I didn't deserve it. I felt so free when this was released from me. She taught me so many other things as well during our coaching sessions- I don't diet anymore! I believe the food that I eat- the food that I want- is what my body needs - I'm 125 lbs now with no dieting!! I exercise because I love it! I've even run 4 half marathons and too many 5Ks and 10Ks to keep count of since 2010 and hope to run a marathon someday just to say I've done it. I can't imagine not ever working with Darlene- I have no idea where I'd be. The fear and negative emotions released by working with Darlene through the years has turned me into the person I was meant to become. I'm a better mother because of her as well. The things I've learned from her I'm able to talk to my children about when they are going through things or are having limiting beliefs about something.  Because of this, they can live happy fulfilling life's, solving problems on their own, and realizing their potential as well.

If you are like me and hesitant to start therapy, not sure if it will help, then take this as your sign to talk to Darlene! She has absolutely changed my life and given me the tools to handle anything that comes at me.

I have learned so much about myself and changed so much for the better. It was a big leap of faith for me to start therapy, I thought it was silly and likely wouldn’t help, but Darlene’s methods and lessons were absolutely life changing and almost painless! Thank you Dr. Darlene!...
